FM4 Boombox
In close cooperation with the architects of Zirup and LWZ we designed and constructed a mobile sound system for FM4. Since the beginning of 2018, the Boombox has been used both indoors and outdoors at festivals, concerts and parties. The design is based on the ghetto blaster popular in the 1970s and 1980s, with extremely oversized loudspeakers, chrome elements and LED lighting. The illuminated handle and the antenna with FM4 logo can be identified from a wide distance.
The construction is based on the principle of a western facade. Front panels equipped with LED lighting technology are mounted on a static framework of slender aluminium elements on the display sides. The sound system finds its place in the interior behind the front speaker panels. When dismantled, the boombox is transported on two trolleys to the respective location and can be set up by two people.
